Children and groups visiting Tabaluga House in Duderstadt are offered a wide range of leisure activities. Duderstadt is a small city with many Fachwerk houses and a beautiful pedestrian zone where Tabaluga House is located. Behind the house there is a large garden with playgrounds, barbecue facilities (it can be covered if it rains) and relaxation areas.
The rooms are adapted to the needs of children and teenagers – there is a music room with various instruments, a relaxation corner which provides a quiet refuge, several playrooms and areas for painting, manual activities and creative work.
The wide range of activities offered by Tabaluga House in Duderstadt in various fields – art, culture, music and drama – helps children and teenagers discover their talent and skills. Moreover, contact with animals and experiences in the nature build on children’s self-esteem and help them gain a long-term positive life attitude.
The programme includes nature trips in the Eichsfeld region. The cooperation with Heinz Sielmann Foundation enables groups to visit one of the many attractions within the large environmental conservation project Grünes Band Eichsfeld-Werratal. There, they have direct contact with various endangered species of plants and animals and learn about local nature. During participative activities, for example in the apple juice factory, children learn about the origin of various simple products and how they are produced – from fruit gathering to juice bottling.
Next, the children may visit a horse farm. By connecting with horses, children get rid of fears, become more self-confident and learn that horses are trusted partners. For children, a visit in the bear park Worbis or a hike in the Harz mountains is always a fascinating experience.
The wood-fired baking oven of a bakery built after an old traditional method recreates food from various humankind ages, from Stone Age until present times. Certain grains can be ground, and then used to make dough and bake, just like our ancestors used to do. Vegetables are peeled and cut outdoors. Later on, they are used to make delicious soup.
There are no limits for drumming, acting in theatre plays, painting and manual activities, and children may let their imagination run free and create.
